Sem-bricks
You woke up with burning ashes on your back. It creeps under your skin. Unaware of
those radiating rays on your face from the windows, you yawn with prosperity. It
was around 10:45 a.m. Stretching each limb effortlessly, you rose looking like
you've undergo hibernation. Then you head to your favorite place to brush your
teeth, perhaps you’re lucky you brushed. Between those gulps of running water on
your throat, were sighs you saved from the previous sem. It will show how you
missed being with those people in the campus. The eagerness feeds on time that
it strengthens you to prepare for the next. Then you remember those professors
who punched the keyboards randomly to give you the records you don’t deserve.
The breakfast was on the table. You sit there silently while
putting your records on with earphone plugged on your phone and buds stuck on your ears. Your lips
moved with anticipation as you chew those crunchy bacon and eggs in your still
tired mouth. Mom speaks and you didn't hear anything. Eat, eat, eat. Then a shout
hugs your ears with agonizing wave. It was unbelievably louder than your song.
Obviously, your mom owned that pesky blast.
You're powerless.
Your wallet just puked each and every allowance you had.
Your gaze wandered through the room. You saw the internet router
was off, so you turned it on. Your phone connects automatically. You stare at
your phone until midnight with breaks for stuffing edible things in your tummy to stay alive. The bed will do the rest of the attraction again.
Then you’ll feel bricks on your back.
That’s how to grow some ‘Sembricks’ on semestral break.
Nice read. I'd say enjoy sem-bricks. That's one thing I very much miss now that I'm *gasp* older and work takes priority.
ReplyDeleteThanks Joy Flores! :) Kadalasan kapag may pasok, sinasabi nating "Gusto ko na ng sembreak" pero pag sembreak, "Gusto ko nang pumasok."
